Uncle Grey and Mr. Grumpy are born and raised Houstonians that have been enamored with rap from the beginning….and I mean the VERY beginning. Decades later most people would think that the opportunity to show their talent in the rap game has passed, but they don’t. Contrary to what people believe, rap is still a very young style of music and most of the pioneers of rap and hip-hop are still alive and active. Yes… new generations of rappers have taken over social media and the rap game but rap music has also survived long enough to get some gray hairs. Together Grey and Grumpy are “Good Brothers United” aka “Story Tellerz”.
What is Mature Rap?
Life is a never-ending cycle. The “Book of Life” will never change….only the person reading it will. Uncle Grey and Mr. Grumpy have been students of rap music since “Don’t push me. Cause I’m close to the edge….”. As young men they were captivated to hear such “real life” lyrics presented in a form of music that depicted the everyday struggles and situations that were right outside their own front door. Rap music has changed because the young are always going to have their own point of view, but what about us “Old Heads”? The Aunts and Uncles have (hopefully) accumulated wisdom and experience throughout their lives that can still be explosive when paired with a sick beat and individual creativity. That is what “Mature Rap” is. It’s the next phase of rap music that has grown up and has grandkids now. It is the wisdom that our generation is supposed to pass down to the next generation.
