About

I've sat where you're sitting.

I'm Gordon, a Distinguished Professor of History and Administrative Fellow to the Provost at Jacksonville State University. Over 25 years in higher education — including 14 as a department chair — I've navigated leadership transitions, institutional politics, budget pressures, difficult personnel decisions, and the particular weight of carrying responsibility without a roadmap.

That experience taught me something that applies far beyond academia: most people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain aren't lacking ability — they're lacking a thinking partner who will ask the right questions and tell them the truth.

I work with leaders at all levels and in all fields, as well as anyone navigating a career pivot, a life transition, or a moment where the next right step just isn't clear.
